The Philippine Social Security System (SSS) has announced that it implemented application guidelines for filing UMID Card applications. It encourages its members to follow these procedures to minimize their risk of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) exposure.
Under the guidelines, members may submit their Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) Card applications at SSS branches following the number coding system. They may also schedule an appointment with their preferred branch using the My.SSS Member Portal’s Appointment System.
You can find the list of SSS branches that accept UMID Card applications at https://bit.ly/UMIDAppFacilities.
Along with the properly accomplished UMID Card Application Form, members must bring one primary valid ID or two secondary valid IDs in the absence of a primary valid ID.
UMID Card Application Forms are available for download through the SSS website at https://bit.ly/UMIDAppForm.
The SSS resumed accepting UMID Card applications in its branches on September 27, 2021.
Members with at least one posted contribution are eligible to apply for SSS-issued UMID Cards. It is free for first-time applicants, but those who have lost or need to update their UMID Cards must pay a PHP 200 replacement fee at any SSS branch.
Meanwhile, beginning December 10, 2020, members who applied for an SS Number online will no longer be required to fill out a UMID Card Application Form. They simply need to schedule a biometric data capture appointment with their preferred SSS branch and present their printed SS Number application and transaction number slip.
The state-run social insurance program advises its members that there will be delays in the production and availability of UMID Cards until further notice. When UMID applicants’ cards are ready for pickup, they will receive a notification. To assist members applying for work in Taiwan, the SSS will continue to issue certification instead of the SSS-issued UMID Card.
