MPL PH Season 9 to start Feb 18, 2022

MPL Philippines has announced that the Season 9 of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League will start on February 18, 2022.

The MPL PH S9 will feature the same teams from Season 8, including:

• Blacklist International
• Onic PH
• Omega Esports
• Nexplay EVOS
• RSG Philippines
• Echo PH
• Bren Esports
• TNC Pro Team

Tier One-led Blacklist International won the MPL PH Season 7 and Season 8. The squad will attempt a three-peat after securing the M3 World title in December 2021.

Blacklist International had an epic run before crowning M3 World champions and earning the grand prize of USD 300,000 (around PHP 15 million). They outshined their group stage 3-0, giving them a spot in the upper bracket. However, a 3-2 loss to North America’s BTK sent them to the lower bracket. Advancing in the tournament, they eliminated Onic Indonesia, Brazil’s Keyd Stars, another Indonesian team, RRQ Hoshi, EVOS SG, and BTK. In the grand finals, they defeated fellow Filipino squad Onic PH.

Meanwhile, M3 runner-up Onic Philippines is also expected to make a resurgence by utilizing role swaps from the world championship.

Echo PH will depend heavily on a “super-team” bolstered by the acquisitions of veteran jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera, and Frediemar “3MarTzy” Serafico.

Other teams competing for the local title include the M2 World champion Bren Esports, Nexplay EVOS, Smart Communications-backed Omega Sports, RSG Philippines, and TNC Pro Team.

MPL Philippines has yet to confirm whether Season 9 will be held offline.
