PH mobile, broadband internet speeds improve —Ookla March 2022 data
Ookla Speedtest Global Index report for March 2022 indicated improvements in mobile and fixed broadband median download speeds for the Philippines.
According to the latest data, the country ranked 93rd globally in the Mobile category, recording an average download speed of 19.38 Mbps. The mobile upload speed was posted at 5.61 Mbps, while 23 ms is the average latency. Compared to the February 2022 ratings, only the download speed has increased.
For the Fixed Broadband, the Philippines placed 60th, posting an average of 52.16 Mbps download speeds. The average upload speed and latency were recorded at 49.08 Mbps and 6 ms, respectively. Compared to the previous month’s records of 49.10 Mbps download speeds, 46.92 Mbps upload speeds, and 6 ms latency, both download and upload speeds increased.
PH ranks 93rd in mobile and 60th in fixed broadband, according to the March 2022 data of the Ookla Speedtest Global Index.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) secured the top spot in the mobile internet speed charts worldwide, recording an average speed of 135.35 Mbps. Singapore topped the fixed broadband category, with an average of 197.97 Mbps download speeds.
The Speedtest Global Index for March 2022 includes 142 countries for Mobile and 182 for Fixed Broadband.
Ookla’s Speedtest service compares results on internet speed around the world, based on millions of tests conducted monthly using the platform.

Further, Ookla needs at least 300 unique user results for both mobile or fixed broadband to be ranked in either category, employing a massive internet testing infrastructure with over 10,000 servers in more than 190 countries.
