Christine “Ray Ray” Natividad, Charize “Yugen” Doble, Gianna “Jeeya” Llanes, Angel Danica “Angelailaila” Lozada and Rose Ann “Hell Girl” Robles are Sibol’s first women medalists in the 2022 SEA Games since the biennial regional multi-sport event included esports in 2019.
Meanwhile, the Free Fire, PUBG Mobile (individual), FIFA Online 4, and men’s Wild Rift squads were unsuccessful in their medal attempts last week.
Before advancing to the Grand Finals, the Philippines defeated Thailand 3-1 in the semifinals, surviving early game jitters from the Thais.
Additionally, they swept the group stages with four wins against all other teams.
GrindSky Eris are the only Filipina esports team competing at the SEA Games, having earned a spot on the national team by defeating GGTY in the Sibol national team qualifiers’ grand finals.
Since the pilot event was held in the Philippines in 2019, this is the first time the SEA Games have included LoL Wild Rift in the biennial competition.
