RSG PH overcame an early deficit to defeat RRQ Hoshi in Game 1, highlighted by an outstanding base defense in the 14th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The reigning MPL PH champions secured the enhanced lord in the 20th minute and released it to simultaneously destroy 3 outer and 2 inhibitor turrets. They ended the first game in 28 minutes and six seconds with a 17-11 kill score to lead the best-of-seven grand finals, 1-0.
A three-man wipe against RRQ in the 25th minute of Game 2 led by RSG PH’s Nathzz (Masha) is the match’s highlight. Nathzz relentlessly disrupts the Indonesian’s positioning by attacking their backline. RSG PH finished the second game with a 12-11 win in under 26 minutes, leading the series 2-0.
RSG PH outplayed RRQ in Game 3, led by Aqua’s (Yve) efforts in the 20th-minute lord clash, where he managed to turn a 0-2 pick-off into a four-man wipe with a precise release of the Real World Manipulation. RSG PH concluded the third game in 29 minutes and 35 seconds with a 21-21 kill score, reaching match point 3-0.
RSG Philippines then maintained its momentum in Game 4 and finished off the Indonesian squad at the 16-minute mark with a landslide 12-2 kill score to seal the victory and grab their first international title.
With the win, RSG PH bagged the lion’s share of the USD 300,000 prize pool and the coveted MSC 2022 title.
RSG Philippines dominated the group stages, losing to RRQ Hoshi only in the upper bracket finals.
After Aether Main (Bren Esports) in 2018 and Execration in 2021, the defending MPL Philippines Season 9 champion is the third Filipino team to win the regional tournament.
