Subscription-based video streaming platform Netflix has released its report for June 2022 ISP Speed Index for the Philippines, ranking select internet service providers (ISPs) in the country based on their performance.
According to the latest data, Globe topped the leaderboards, recording speeds of 3.6 Mbps.
Meanwhile, Converge, PLDT, and Sky Cable shared the second spot, registering 3.4 Mbps.
Coming in third place was Royal Cable with 3.2 Mbps speeds.
Based on the report, PLDT and Globe Telecom have fiber and DSL (digital subscriber line) networks. On the other hand, Royal Cable, Sky Cable, and Converge ICT Solutions offer two types of internet: fiber and cable.
The telco’s broadband arm Globe At Home has led the charts for the 6th straight month. See the reports for January, February, March, April, and May.
Globe’s score in the June 2022 Netflix ISP Index is also at par with the country’s overall rating.
Among the countries that also reached the same 3.6 Mbps speeds for June 2022 are Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam.
Globe Telecom dominated the Netflix ISP Speed Index for ten consecutive months in 2021, from February until November.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index report determines which internet service providers offer the best viewing experience during peak viewing hours. Data is gathered from subscribers using the video streaming platform.
The speed index is essential for Netflix streaming, as its videos load rapidly on networks with faster data transmission and minimal delays. Else, viewers may encounter buffering and pixelation issues while streaming content.
