According to the newly released 2022 State of Mobile report from data.ai (formerly App Annie), GCash is among the top 10 apps in the Philippines in four categories, solidifying its position as the most popular e-wallet among Filipinos.
The mobile wallet service operated by Globe Group's Mynt ranked fourth in terms of downloads and fifth in terms of monthly active users across all categories in the Philippines. Notably, it was the only fintech mobile app to rank among the top 10 in both categories, along with social media, chat, and e-commerce applications.
The parent company of GCash, Globe, was ranked fourth in terms of app downloads across all categories, surpassing the only other telco on the list operating an e-wallet, which was in eighth place.
GCash was ranked second among finance apps in terms of category breakout monthly active users, but it is the top mobile wallet on the list.
GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon said:
We are proud to be among the top 10 apps in several categories in the new data.ai report. This affirms our standing as the country’s undisputed No. 1 fintech app and inspires us to continue evolving our services to achieve our goal of Finance for All.
GCash has maintained its market dominance despite the entry of new competitors as it continues to expand its financial services and lifestyle offerings under a single superapp. GCash now provides credit, savings, wealth, and insurance products in addition to retail, food, wellness, travel, recreation, and even real estate services.
Currently, it has 76 million registered users, a phenomenal increase from approximately 20 million in 2019 during the pandemic. With 5.8 million merchants and social sellers on board and 855 GLife merchant partners, it has also been supporting Filipino entrepreneurs.
Through its GLoan, GCredit, and GGives services, GCash has provided over 57 billion in loans to 2 million unique borrowers to date.
GCash has intensified its efforts to expand its presence in additional regions of the country by partnering with local government units (LGUs).
