Netflix Password Sharing Guidelines

The video streaming platform Netflix notes that an "account is for people who live together in a single household." Here are some details on how you can share your Netflix account password with others.

According to Netflix, an "account is meant to be shared in one household." Specifically, these are individuals "who live in the same location" (together with the account owner). People who do not reside in your household must have their own Netflix account in order to watch videos.

Netflix detects devices within a household by using information like "IP addresses, device IDs, and account activity" from the devices signed into the account.

Netflix will require users to connect to the Wi-Fi at their primary location in order to determine if their devices are associated with their primary location. Then, every 31 days, any user profile linked with a household subscription will be required to open the app or website and stream any video to get an active status, else will automatically sign out.

For subscribers accessing Netflix outside the home, their device needs to be verified before it can be used to watch content. They will need permission from the primary user and the 4-digit verification code.
