Team Secret exits 2023 VCT Lock In after 2-0 loss to NaVi

Team Secret's valiant run at the 2023 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) LOCK IN has come to an end after losing to Europe's Natus Vincere (NaVi) in a 2-0 sweep in the Round of 16. The event was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on February 25 (February 26 in the Philippines).

The Philippine-based squad once again faced a familiar opponent in Mehmet "cNed" Yagiz Ipek for the first time since they last met the Turkish player in the Valorant Champions in 2021. Team Secret, nonetheless, were swept again in a best-of-three series.

Team Secret got the first four rounds, which was a good start. But NaVi slowly picked up the pace, and at the half, the score was tied at six each.

After the switch, TS seemed to show a ray of hope when it defused the spikes in rounds 13 and 14.

However, beginning in round 15, the Europe-based squad delivered a stellar performance as they clinched seven consecutive rounds to seize the map from TS, 13-8.

JessieVash led Team Secret with 32 kills and eight assists utilizing Sova and Fade, whereas BORKUM contributed 24 kills and 11 assists utilizing Viper and Harbor.

Meanwhile, NaVi's cNed remained phenomenal with 42 kills on his Jett, while Pontus "Zyppan" Eek recorded 29 kills and 24 assists.

Team Secret bagged USD 10,000 (~ PHP 549K) for finishing 9th to 16th in the tournament.

"Our journey in the #VCTLOCKIN ends here. Tough loss but the future is looking bright. Thank you for your insane support, see you in the Pacific League," said Team Secret on their Facebook page.
