PH average broadband speed still at 90Mbps: Ookla March 2023

The Speedtest Global Index report for March 2023 has been revealed by Ookla, indicating that the Philippines' internet rank has moved one spot down in Fixed Broadband and increased one position in Mobile.

The country ranked 41st globally in the Fixed Broadband category, recording an average median download speed of 90.57 Mbps. The average upload speed was recorded at 89.46 Mbps, and the average latency was 6 ms. Compared to the February 2023 charts, which listed average download and upload speeds of 90.03 Mbps and 87.63 Mbps, respectively, both metrics saw a very slight boost.

On the other hand, in the Mobile category, the Philippines ranked 79th, listing an average of 25.63 Mbps download speed. The average upload speed and latency were registered at 6.39 Mbps and 23 ms, respectively. This month's record shows a slight improvement in both download and upload speeds compared to the previous month's results of 24.58 Mbps and 6.24 Mbps, respectively.

Philippines ranks 79th in mobile and 41st in fixed broadband, according to the March 2023 data of the Ookla Speedtest Global Index.

For the global median speeds, the average download speed for mobile is 41.54 Mbps, while the average for fixed broadband is 79 Mbps.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranked first in the mobile internet speed charts worldwide, registering an average speed of 178.25 Mbps. Meanwhile, Singapore ranked first in the fixed broadband category, with an average of 235.4 Mbps download speeds.

The Speedtest Global Index for March 2023 includes 140 countries for Mobile and 180 for Fixed Broadband.

For those unaware, the results of the Speedtest Global Index are based on the median download speed in order to more precisely reflect the internet speeds a user can achieve in a given market, as per analytics firm Ookla.
