Smart delivered the fastest mobile download speed in the Philippines, according to Ookla's Q1 2023 Internet Performance Report.
Based on the latest data, Smart, PLDT's wireless arm, prevailed as the fastest mobile operator in the Philippines from January to March 2023.
Smart registered a median download speed of 33.39 Mbps. It was followed by Globe at 22.29 Mbps and DITO at 18.63 Mbps.
These results are based on millions of user-initiated daily tests using the Speedtest platform (website and app). They were then analyzed via Ookla's Speedtest Intelligence, which provides global performance metrics for fixed broadband and mobile networks.

In terms of internet performance metrics, Ookla used the median, often called "average," which represents the download speed experienced by the typical user. Here, the "typical user" is the one whose mobile internet speed is right in the middle of all users' speeds on a given network.
As of end-September 2022, Smart Communications had installed 77,200 base stations across the country. This included 7,300 5G base stations and around 40,000 4G/LTE base stations. It is supported by the largest fiber network in the country, covering more than 1.09 million kilometers of international and domestic fiber.
