As the SIM Registration deadline for existing users draws nearer, Smart has intensified its campaign to urge its users to register their SIM cards.

Smart's "Mag-SIM Reg para hindi SIM Dead" campaign reminds Smart and Talk 'N Text (TNT) customers to register their SIMs and warns them about all the problems that can happen if a SIM is not registered. If a SIM isn't registered, it will become permanently deactivated or "SIM dead."

Here's Smart's public service announcement, presented by celebrity Maine Mendoza.

Francis E. Flores, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business – Individual at Smart, said:
Our smartphone has become an extension of ourselves, and failing to register our SIM will cut us off from the many technological conveniences that enable us to live more today. This is why we encourage all our customers to register their Smart and TNT SIMs ahead of the April 26 deadline.

In a statement, Smart Communications cited the scenarios subscribers could encounter if they fail to register their SIM cards.

Note that deactivated SIM cards still have a five-day grace period for registration and reactivation, but once this is missed, subscribers will experience the following hassles:
  • No outgoing and incoming calls
  • No sending and receiving messages
  • No internet access
  • Forfeited load balances
