Lazada bans phones from overseas due to PH Customs policy

Phones from overseas are now banned on Lazada. According to the online shopping platform, this is due to the new Philippine Customs policy.

Circulating on social media is a photo by Lazada Logistics explaining the reason behind the ban of smartphones and tablets from China and other countries abroad on the platform. It revealed this was because of the latest policy imposed by the Bureau of Customs.

Statement from Lazada Logistics

Specifically, the following items will be affected by import clearance:
1. Smartphones and Tablets under Mobiles & Tablets (not allowed to be sold)
2. Total package value (selling price of goods - seller discount) is greater than or equal to 10,000 Pesos.

The explanation from Lazada Logistics also stated that the platform would remove the aforementioned products and block the corresponding packages. Moreover, intercepted packages will be returned to the merchant.

The note ended with Lazada asking for its customers' understanding and cooperation regarding the issue.
