TM, Globe's value brand, has most users in PH: SWS survey

TM, Globe's value brand, has emerged as the most used mobile brand in the Philippines, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults across the nation from March 26 to March 29, 2023. Each of Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao had 300 respondents who were permitted to mention more than one network provider.

The results revealed that 48 percent of users in Mindanao preferred the Touch Mobile (TM) brand, 31 percent in Luzon, and 19 percent in Visayas. TM was also the market leader in both urban and rural areas, with 27 percent and 36 percent market share, respectively.

On the other hand, Globe dominated 34% of respondents in the National Capital Region (NCR), particularly in Metro Manila. With a 30% market share, it was the second most popular mobile phone brand in Luzon.

Moreover, Globe was the second most popular in urban areas, accounting for 25% of all usage. Approximately 23% of rural cellphone users also favored the brand.

An estimated 73 percent of adult Filipinos surveyed responded that they owned at least one cell phone at the time of the survey. Eighty (80) percent of cell phone owners use one SIM card, eighteen (18) percent use two SIM cards and one (1) percent use three or four SIM cards.

In December 2013, mobile phone ownership peaked at 85 percent, up from 2 to 3 percent from 1995 to 1999. From March 2014 to December 2021, it generally declined, reaching as low as 57%, before rising to a range of 72% to 85% from April 2022 to March 2023.
