PH mobile download speed at 25 Mbps: Ookla May 2023

The Speedtest Global Index report for May 2023 has been revealed by Ookla, indicating that the Philippines' internet rank has moved three spots down in Fixed Broadband and increased three positions in Mobile.

The country ranked 45th globally in the Fixed Broadband category, recording an average median download speed of 91.62 Mbps. The average upload speed was recorded at 92.53 Mbps, and the average latency was 6 ms. Compared to the April 2023 charts, which listed average download and upload speeds of 92.09 Mbps and 91.62 Mbps, respectively, download speed slightly dropped while upload speed saw an improvement.

In the Mobile category, the Philippines ranked 83rd, listing an average of 25.84 Mbps download speed. The average upload speed and latency were registered at 6.04 Mbps and 23 ms, respectively. This month's record shows a slight boost in download speed and a minor decrease in upload speed compared to the previous month's results of 25.27 Mbps and 6.10 Mbps, respectively.

Philippines ranks 83rd in mobile and 45th in fixed broadband, according to the May 2023 data of the Ookla Speedtest Global Index.

For the global median speeds, the average download speed for Fixed Broadband is 79.28 Mbps, while the average for Mobile is 42.30 Mbps.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranked first in the mobile internet speed charts worldwide, registering an average speed of 181.79 Mbps. Meanwhile, Singapore placed first in the fixed broadband category, with an average of 241.35 Mbps download speeds.

The Speedtest Global Index for May 2023 includes 140 countries for Mobile and 181 for Fixed Broadband.

If you're unaware, the Speedtest Global Index results consider the median download speed to provide a more precise representation of the internet speeds that a user can attain in a particular market, as per analytics firm Ookla.
