Globe Prepaid eSIM set to release in Q3 2023

Globe Telecom has announced that it will launch its prepaid embedded SIM (eSIM) by the end of the third quarter of 2023.

Globe said that prepaid eSIMs offer numerous benefits, such as the ability to create numerous profiles using different mobile numbers on a single device.

This feature enables users to easily switch between lines, whether for after-work hours, travel, or any other purpose that fits their lifestyle.

With eSIM technology, users can also connect multiple devices, like smartphones and smartwatches, to a single mobile SIM number. Users don't have to worry about leaving their main phone at home when they go for a run or run a quick task.

According to Globe, this strategic move is in line with its commitment to providing innovative solutions, improving the mobile experience for its subscribers, and embedding sustainability in its products.

Darius Delgado, Head of Globe's Consumer Mobile Business, said:
By the end of this quarter, we will launch our leveled-up version of the eSIM [embedded SIM] because we recognize the opportunity, and we can also monetize the convenience that eSIM can give our customers. And it's also going to restructure the way we operate because there's less cost, it's fully Do-It-Yourself. It's really convenient for the customer.

Globe introduced eSIM technology to postpaid customers in 2018. To explain further, an eSIM is an integrated SIM chip embedded in the mobile device permanently. It provides users with the convenience of having all their mobile info at their fingertips, paving the way for seamless connections.

As Globe incorporates sustainability practices into its operations, the eSIM initiative reduces the company's reliance on plastic SIM cards. This eliminates the requirement for new plastic materials and reduces waste production and logistics.

By opting for the eSIM, customers are taking a step toward more responsible consumption practices, recognizing that minor changes, when adopted collectively, can have a substantial positive impact on the environment.
