Farlight 84 new Filipino hero, esports roadmap revealed

Hit battle-royale game Farlight 84 has announced its new Filipino-inspired hero and esports roadmap. Other plans and updates were also revealed.

FARLIGHT Games announced these upcoming updates during the FARLIGHT 84 Philippines Summit that took place on August 24, 2023.

New Filipino Hero

According to Farlight Games Senior Director of Global Publishing Nelson Woon, in a celebration of Filipino culture, they will be introducing a new Filipino hero, which is set to release in late October 2023.

This hero, who will assume the support role and embody the vibrant spirit of a rock star, reflects the game's ongoing commitment to offering customized elements and content.

Woon said that they are equally excited to unveil a few hero skins exclusively crafted for the fans in the Philippines.

Fresh Hero Updates and New Seasons

Woon shared that every month, players can look forward to fresh hero updates and new seasons accompanied by innovative battle pass skins.

For more extensive updates, which occur twice a year, Farlight 84 developers unveil new maps, new weapons, new game modes, and newly armed vehicles, all tailored to keep the gaming experience fresh and engaging, according to Woon.

Woon said that their first 'Battle royale' new map, for instance, is set to go live by the end of this year.

New Platforms

Further, in 2023, Farlight 84 will be available on Nintendo Switch. Also, in 2024, they plan to extend the reach to PlayStation and or Xbox as well.

User Oriented Development

By monitoring player feedback across various platforms daily, they ensure that players' insights and suggestions are quickly channeled into the game's development.

Woon also cited that they maintain a zero-tolerance approach to cheating, with more than 44,000 bans enforced this year alone.

Marketing

This is the first time that Farlight 84 went offline in the Philippines, and they have collaborated with the incredibly talented Ella Cruz with a battle emote in-game.

Farlight 84 is also thrilled to announce their collaboration with the P-pop group SB19 members Josh and Justin.

Collegiate Program

According to Farlight 84, their Collegiate program is a testament to their commitment to the students.

That said, they've partnered with over 600 cyber cafes like TNC. No matter where you are in the Philippines, you can experience the PC version of Farlight 84.

Community

According to the Farlight 84 team, they will invest 10 million US dollars in the next three years for the Filipino creators. They said that they're making sure that every creator finds their fitting spot and growing path in Farlight 84.

Esports

According to Stanley Peng, Farlight 84's global esports director, they invested over 20 million US dollars into creating a thriving gaming ecosystem in the Philippines.

Peng said that players must get ready because Farlight 84 Esports is about to make history in the Philippines with the highest prize pool ever seen in a shooter game tournament, the Farlight 84 Philippines Championship (FPC).

Farlight 84 Esports Roadmap for 2023 and 2024 - Schedule and Prize Pool

Over the course of the year, FPC is gearing up for a total of three seasons with an electrifying offline grand finals event. The first season started in August 2023, and the grand finals are slated for July 2024.

Upon the conclusion of the three FPC seasons, the top 30 teams, in terms of total points, can participate in the FPC final the following year.

FPC is also unleashing an astonishing annual prize pool, a whopping 150,000 US dollars (around 8.5 million Pesos) up for grabs, which is a combined prize pool for both mobile and PC. Each mobile esports event will feature USD 25,000 (roughly PHP 1.4 million) prize money, while the PC-based events will feature USD 12,500 (approximately PHP 709K) apiece.
