Full-frame global shutter image sensor
Sony has introduced a revolutionary camera sensor with the BIONZ XR, the most recent image processing engine and the first global shutter full-frame stacked 24.6 megapixel CMOS image sensor. This sensor enables continuous bursts of up to 120fps with AF/AE tracking and a max shutter speed of 1/80000 second.
The sensor's global shutter system makes it possible for these features to capture split-second moments in stunning detail and catch subjects that are moving quickly without distorting the image in any way. The Alpha 9 III's global shutter system exposes all pixels at the same time, unlike a regular rolling shutter system. This means that flicker is not present in single pictures or flash bonding.
In conjunction with the global shutter system, the designated AI processing unit of the camera employs Real-time Recognition AF (autofocus) to accurately identify a diverse range of subjects. By integrating the sensor's precise subject recognition capabilities with the camera's high-speed performance, it becomes feasible to effortlessly capture pivotal moments and scenes that are beyond the scope of visibility to the naked eye.

The Sony Alpha 9 III camera's global shutter image sensor enables distortion-free video capture. The Alpha 9 III is capable of capturing 4K videos at 60p with full pixel output and 6K oversampling, in addition to 120p.
The Alpha 9 III camera's AI processing unit supports movies with accurate subject form and movement recognition. It also improves human eye recognition performance with Real-time Recognition AF and Real-time Tracking, which automatically recognize, track, and focus on a subject's eyes.
Using S-Cinetone for image creation, the Alpha 9 III enhances the appearance of subjects and human skin by generating natural highlights.
Advanced operability and flexibility
In response to the feedback of professional photographers, Sony has enhanced the functionality and dependability of the camera. For extended photography sessions, a compatible VG-C5 vertical grip (sold separately) and an improved ergonomic design are provided to assist professional image makers.
