Prior to its shutdown, ABS-CBN has 7 digital TV channels, but 5 are exclusive channels, including Cinemo, YEY, DZMM Teleradyo, Knowledge Channel, and KBO (Kapamilya Box office). These exclusive channels of ABS-CBN can only be accessed through their proprietary Digital TV box product, the ABS-CBN TV Plus 'Ang Mahiwagang BlackBox' (The Magical Black Box), as well as their digital TV dongle product, ABS-CBN TVplus Go. Currently, ABS-CBN free-to-air channels are still not accessible on Digital TV boxes due to NTC's cease and desist order.

On June 26, 2020, GMA Network released its own digital TV receiver named GMA Affordabox. This GMA digital tv box features a Multimedia player via USB, a Personal video recorder (GMA, GTV, Heart of Asia, Hallypop, and I Heart Movies), National Emergency Warning Broadcast System (EWBS), Auto-on Alert Feature, Digital Display, and Info Display.

In December 2020, GMA released its digital TV receiver for smartphones called GMA Now. It is a mobile digital TV receiver that can be plugged into an Android phone that allows users to watch live TV for free, join interactive promos, and chat with Kapuso artists on Groupee. At the same time, Baron Antenna maker also released its set-top box called Baron Digital TV Receiver.

In 2021, the TV5 network released its digital TV receiver called Sulit TV. This DTV box comes with several features, such as a multimedia player, a video recorder, and built-in games.

In 2024, the Philippine government, via the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), will distribute free Bagong Pilipinas Digibox to aid those who cannot afford to buy digital TV receivers. This move also promotes the switch from analog to digital terrestrial television.

Digital TV was implemented in the Philippines in the early 2000s. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has adopted the ISDB-T standard for Philippine television. ISDB-T is a Japanese standard for digital television (DTV) and digital radio used by its radio and television networks. The NTC chose to use the Japanese standard ISDB-T for digital television in the country in Memorandum Circular 02-06-2010, noting its capability to 3 levels of categorized modulation (audio, video, and data services) to fixed, portable, and handheld devices exclusive of the necessity for a supplementary communication facility. Most of the TV Stations in the Philippines provide SD (Standard Definition) and HD (High Definition). All analog services are expected to shut down permanently by 2024.
