Riot Games Philippines rebranded the League of Legends Empyrean Cup to Liga Republika for 2024 and beyond.
According to Riot Games, it is set to double down on the competitive gaming and esports scene in the Philippines with the launch of Liga Republika 2024.
The Liga Republika 2024 competitive circuit will be an upgrade on last year's Empyrean Cup. It is anticipated to attract 384 teams, an increase from the 256 that participated the previous year. Players from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao participate in the pilot iteration of Liga Republika in an effort to determine the best League of Legends teams in the Philippines, thereby laying the groundwork for a revitalized competitive League in the country.
Riot Games Philippines believes that a new local tournament that Filipino players can call their own, a new format, and increased entry opportunities will demonstrate to players that League of Legends is here to stay. Riot, whose players are taking the initiative, is setting the stage for grassroots opportunities and sustainable competition in the county, building upon their success from the previous year.

Liga Republika 2024: Roadmap, Format, Schedule
By incorporating both offline and online phases, this momentous tournament guarantees inclusivity for League players across the nation.
Liga Republika 2024 will start this May with a Kickoff Invitational featuring the top eight (8) teams from the 2023 Empyrean Cup, where the top four (4) will qualify for the group stage in August.
In June 2024, the tournament will open its registration to the public. From July to August, over 300 teams will compete in the open qualifiers round for one of the twelve group slots.
From the invitational round and open qualifiers, a total of 16 teams will move to the group stage scheduled for August 2024, with the playoffs scheduled for the month of September.
The grand finals of Liga Republika 2024 will take place offline at a LAN event where the top eight (8) teams will compete in front of a live audience for the title of champion and the lion's share of the 1 million-peso prize pool.
