Garena, Kadokawa announce anime adaptation of Free Fire

Singapore-based game company Garena and Japanese media firm Kadokawa have announced the production of an anime adaptation of Free Fire.

According to Garena Online Private Limited, the Free Fire anime will be produced through joint investment with KADOKAWA CORPORATION.

The anime adaptation, as per Free Fire maker Garena, is scheduled to be produced by a Japanese anime production studio with KADOKAWA QINGYU — KADOKAWA's overseas branch — as its production manager.

Further, the completed animation will be broadcast and streamed worldwide.

For those unfamiliar, Free Fire is a popular mobile game developed and published by Garena. It has been the world's most downloaded mobile battle royale game for five consecutive years. It ranked as the most downloaded mobile game worldwide between 2019 and 2021. Additionally, in 2022 and 2023, it dominated the mobile battle royale download charts, as reported by data.ai. In February 2024, its peak Daily Active Users (DAU) surpassed 100 million.

The battle royale game Garena Free Fire is an immersive experience that was developed with mobile players in mind. In addition to the classic battle royale mode, it features a variety of other entertaining game modes that are suitable for all players, including Clash Squad, Zombie Invasion, Pet Mania, and others.
