Valorant coming to consoles; no cross-play support with PC

Valorant announced that the first-person hero shooter will be available on consoles, PS5 and Xbox. It will not support cross-play with the PC version. The limited beta testing will kick off on June 14, 2024. Check out more details below.

Valorant console version is coming soon to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms

During the Valorant showcase at Summer Game Fest 2024, Riot Games revealed that its acclaimed competitive 5v5 character-based tactical shooter game would be released on consoles.

The developers at Riot Games have confirmed that the PC version of Valorant has been ported to consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, the game's fundamental gameplay will remain unchanged.

All of the in-game content and balance updates for the Valorant PC version will also be available on the console version. This will ensure that new patches, which may include new agents, weapons, buffs/nerfs, maps, and other content, are properly synced.

In an effort to enhance the user experience, the developer has stated that the game has been redesigned with console controllers in mind, providing "custom-built" gameplay.

Further, in order to preserve Valorant's competitive integrity, Riot Games noted that cross-play (cross-platform play) support will not be available for console and PC gamers. This is due to the fact that the control methods of the two devices are distinct, with the keyboard+mouse combo on PC offering a significantly more precise aim than game controllers on consoles.

While cross-play will not be supported, cross-progression and the shared inventory for cosmetics will be implemented so that players don't have to start over. All progress made on the Battlepass, Agents recruited, or skins purchased will be transferred between the console and PC.

Valorant Console Limited Beta

A limited beta test of the Valorant console version will be released for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X on June 14, 2024, at 1 PM PT [June 15, 4 AM Philippine Time]. Prior to its global release, Riot Games will resolve any issues that arise as a result of player feedback following the beta phase.

Players who are interested in participating in the beta must register through the official registration portal (https://ift.tt/xtPgJ4Z).

At first, the beta will be accessible exclusively in the United States, Europe, Japan, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Subsequently, it is anticipated that additional regions will be added.

On the other hand, the mobile version of Valorant was also announced by Riot Games in 2021; however, little information has been released since then.
