My First Impression
The realme C63 phone (8GB+256GB, Leather Blue variant) has a sturdy build and feels premium in hand, even though it's made of plastic. Due to its slim and lightweight design, flat display and sides, and rounded corners, it's really comfortable to hold even with one hand in any orientation, whether vertical or horizontal. While the faux leather back adds a touch of class, the square camera island, reminiscent of the iPhone, is crafted from aluminum and has a smooth texture.
Considering the realme C63 falls into the entry-level department, which isn't known for its excellent durability ratings, I'm pleasantly impressed by its build quality. Compared to my other phones, this is the first time I feel like not putting a jelly case. Besides offering a strong grip, its faux leather cover is not a magnet to fingerprint smudges. When some dirt gets into it, simply wipe it off.
Thanks to its Weather Proof Design, the realme C63 smartphone can withstand accidental drops and extreme heat or cold, guaranteeing a high-quality product. It is complemented by a Premium Vegan Leather on the back panel that is soft, ultra-durable, and stain-resistant. Additionally, it comes with an IP54 ingress protection, so it can handle some water splashes and specks of dust.
When it comes to display, the new tough budget phone flaunts a 6.74-inch IPS LCD with HD+ 1600x 720 resolution, 560 nits of maximum brightness, and up to 90Hz screen refresh rate. Though the screen resolution is only HD+, the details of the content I browsed, including images and videos, are vivid and crisp. You won't notice that it only has a 720p display.
Moreover, the front panel has slim bezels on top and both left and right sides. However, the chin bezel is somewhat thick, and there is a dewdrop notch on the top (for the 8MP selfie camera).
The top side of realme C63 is clear. On the bottom part, you'll see the 3.5mm audio jack, mic, USB-C port, and the four-holed speaker grill. The triple card slot is located in the left area. On the right side, usual buttons like the volume rocker and power button (which also acts as a fingerprint reader) can be found.
Regarding its specs sheet, realme C63 features a big 5000 mAh battery with support for USB-C 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging, which realme claims can reach 100 percent in 79 minutes. With one minute of charging, you can get one hour of call time. Its charging technology is also equipped with 38 safety protections and has received a TÃœV Rheinland Safe Fast-Charge System Certification, guaranteeing safe and fast charging.
Powering realme C63 is the power-efficient Unisoc T612 octa-core processor. The mobile platform is coupled with a large 256GB internal storage to store all your files, videos, photos, and games. For added storage space, up to 2TB microSD card can be inserted into the dedicated memory card slot. It also has a 8GB RAM that features RAM expansion (+8GB Virtual RAM, a total of 16GB RAM).
Regarding software, realme C63 comes pre-installed with a realme UI based on Android 14 OS. According to the mobile brand, it is a trimmed-down version of the full realme UI 4.0 and realme UI 5.0, optimized for Unisoc-based devices. For connectivity, the device supports dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G LTE connection, dual SIM (nano), and USB OTG.
For the camera department, realme C63 has decent lenses for its price point. On the back panel, it has a 50-megapixel f/1.8 main shooter with PDAF focus and a secondary lens (Flicker Camera) together with an LED flash. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera with Beauty mode.
Also, it is worth mentioning that this entry-level phone includes Real Essentials, which is a set of useful tools to improve user experience. Among these features are AI Noise Reduction (for voice calls), Mini Capsule 2.0 (interactive animation from the selfie camera notch), Air Gestures, Dynamic Button (opens preferred function or app via custom mapping), Riding Mode, AI Boost (enhances system and gaming performance), and Customized Lowest or 1 Nit Brightness. Its Rainwater Smart Touch feature enables accurate touch response even with wet fingers or a wet display, which is significantly helpful when you urgently need to swipe and tap the device in wet situations, such as when it is raining, you're washing the dishes or taking a shower.
Further, even after four years of use, the realme C63 will continue to perform at its peak thanks to its realme Lab 48-Month Fluency Certification. Besides optimized hardware and software, it also has up to 3 years of support through software with two major OS updates.
Final Thoughts
realme C63, though a budget phone, possesses qualities that outshine its competitors in the entry-level segment. It has a durable build, slim and lightweight design, IP54 rating, Rainwater Smart Touch, a bunch of helpful AI-powered features, smooth performance, and decent cameras. This will be a great choice for users looking for a quality phone that can keep up with daily wear and tear.
