On April 9, 2025, Honkai Star Rail's Version 3.2 will debut new 5-star characters, Anaxa and Castorice, HoYoverse announced. The Chrysos Heirs and Trailblazers battle survival and political intrigue during their Flame-Chase Journey in this latest patch update.

To celebrate its Two-Year Anniversary, Honkai: Star Rail is hosting special events and rewards in Version 3.2. Players can earn 20 free pulls through daily check-ins. On April 26, 2025, the anniversary date, players will receive a commemorative in-game card and 1,600 Stellar Jades. Additionally, they can choose one free 5-star character between Luocha or Ruan Mei.
Honkai Star Rail Version 3.2 Update Overview
After Thanatos disappears and Oronyx falls, players will go with the Chrysos Heir Castorice to Styxia, a forgotten city-state sunken in the Sea of Souls with massive dragon bones and roaming spirits. Players will use an ancient lantern to piece together the Titans' and draconic calamity's history via spectral residents' tales. When the party encounters Pollux, a leviathan sleeping in the River of Souls, the adventure becomes dangerous. This HP-manipulating enemy requires the team to closely check their vitality during combat. One mistake might be disastrous.
Meanwhile, heroes suffer internal conflict as well as external threats. The lifeless scholar Anaxa, nourished by the Coreflame of Cerces, complicates Okhema's Council of Elders' vote to stop the Flame-Chase Journey. His secret Council of Elders contacts suggest a dark partnership. As Styxia's mysteries and Okhema's politics intertwine, the players' expedition and Flame-Chase Journey become more dangerous.
As the Flame-Chase Journey progresses, obstacles increase. The new HSR 3.2 update adds two powerful 5-star characters, Anaxa (Erudition) and Castorice (Remembrance), as important allies.
Anaxa, one of the Seven Sages of the Grove of Epiphany and founder of Nousporism, was forever changed by the mysterious black flood that stole his possessions. This incident also changed his view of souls and reality, inspiring him to focus more on scholarship. In combat, his attacks randomly apply Weaknesses to enemies. Accumulating enough Weaknesses triggers Qualitative Disclosure (state), boosting his damage and allowing a free follow-up Skill Attack (no Skill Points required). Anaxa's Ultimate ability applies 7 Weaknesses to all enemies with Sublimation.
Castorice, the cursed daughter of the River of Souls, is a captivating figure with a tragic backstory. As a Chrysos Heir, she seeks the lost Coreflame of Death and wields the Netherwing, a spectral entity born from memories and divine power. Her Ultimate summons the Netherwing, which burns its own HP to inflict damage on enemies and syncs with her for powerful joint attacks. It converts allies' lost HP into its own, boosts damage, and provides a shield by taunting enemies, erupting in a sacrificial blaze when leaving the field to heal allies and deal extra damage. Further, Castorice has a unique survival mechanic: when an ally receives a killing blow, they enter a near-death state instead of dying immediately. If certain conditions are met during this time, the character can recover and rejoin the fight, even if Castorice is not on the team.
In the first half of HSR Version 3.2, a special Warp event (banner) will feature reruns of the limited 5-star characters Jiaoqiu, Fugue, and Acheron. In the second half, 5-star Dr. Ratio will return, providing essential power for players' exploration and combat.
Meanwhile, the development team announced during the preview livestream that they will improve old characters in Version 3.4, specifically Silver Wolf, Kafka, Blade, and Jingliu. Details of these balance adjustments will be revealed in future updates.
For the upcoming Honkai Star Rail events, players can play Seal Slammers ("So Dang Fun Seal Bumping Duel Challenge Seal Slammers"), a silly mini-game where they fight their Chrysos Heir pals in chaotic seal collisions. This event, exclusively sponsored by Aglaea, lasts longer, giving participants more time to enjoy its goofy fun.
To celebrate Honkai Star Rail's two-year anniversary, special events will be launched, including the Star Rail WORLD event. Players will collaborate with friends to organize a cosmic gala. Strategic management is needed to raise venue tiers, generate funds, and recruit reliable companions. As resources increase, more exhibition booths and Assistants will unlock, making the festivities greater.
On the other hand, the Honkai: Star Rail Concert will be held at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center from May 1 to 3, 2025, featuring live performances and a global livestream on May 3. Throughout May, there will also be official "Star Rail LIVE 2025 Special Screenings" in various cities, along with exclusive merchandise, interactive activities, and regional collaborations to celebrate two years of cosmic adventures.
