Most Filipinos inclined to buy AI gadgets: Samsung survey

Samsung has led AI innovation since the debut of Galaxy AI and launched the Galaxy S25 series in January, giving users better and more intuitive experiences.

Samsung Electronics Philippines' recent consumer and market insights study of over 2600 Southeast Asian consumers found that 6 in 10 Filipinos are inclined to buy smartphones and digital home appliances with AI (artificial intelligence) features because they value technology that makes life easier. More details below.

Filipino smartphone users on AI usage

Filipino consumers favor AI because of its efficiency and innovation potential. This innovative tech is mainly used for writing, language translation, and problem-solving, emphasizing effective communication and school and office productivity.

The survey indicated that 44 percent of PH users use AI for writing, compared to 32 percent for the rest of SEA, 42 percent for language translation, and 39 percent for problem-solving, all higher than the rest of SEA. Filipinos utilize AI for graphic design, photography/videography, cooking inspiration, and music composition.

Further, Filipinos use AI for photo editing (48%), entertainment (42%), and new idea generation (42%). Filipinos value fast information retrieval, with 41% adopting AI.

Pinoy mobile phone users also prefer AI capabilities that boost productivity and creativity, such as improved search, photo editing (including removing unnecessary elements), and summarizing articles. These preferences indicate a need for solutions that simplify tasks and enhance mobile experiences.

The productivity and creativity-focused Galaxy AI features (on One UI 7) of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series cater to Filipinos' increasing interest in AI. Its multimodal AI agents analyze text, speech, pictures, and videos for intuitive interactions.

The upgraded Circle to Search allows rapid searches, including music recognition and translation, and seamless app action improves multitasking for better workflows. AI Select recommends relevant functions to speed work. Browsing Assist and Notes Assist facilitate research and organization, and Now Brief provides concise summaries. Meanwhile, Portrait Studio and Drawing Assist help users create outstanding images easily.

Jun Guevara, Head of Mobile Experience, Samsung Electronics Philippines, said that the recently released Galaxy S25 series "sets a new standard as a true AI companion" with their "most natural and context-aware mobile experience yet." He added that all these reinforce the company's leadership in the AI field and their "commitment to making the benefits of AI more accessible to Filipinos."

The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset boosts AI processing, graphics rendering, and mobile gaming performance, making the Galaxy S25 series a genuine AI companion.
