Season 1, Chapter 2 is a major update to FragPunk, NetEase Games and Bad Guitar Studio announced. Look out for new game modes, a new Lancer and over 70 new Shard Cards, all to be made available as the new chapter begins on April 29, 2025.
In addition to the game debuting on console later this month, there is also the introduction of a brand-new esports event, FragPunk Global Invitational, with a significant prize pool.
Season 1 Chapter 2: Update Overview
Expansion of Card Chaos
- More than 70 shard cards are coming to the battlefield; Shard Clash, Team Deathmatch (TDM), and Outbreak Mode all get new card content.
- Outbreak Mode deepens strategic play by adding shard cards and Survivor/Parasite-specific dual-deck systems.
Here are some of the latest shard cards:
- Archer: Your squad can change into magical archers.
- Feral Hogs: A helpful red hog follows you, disarming and knocking down enemies.
- Everybody Dance Now: Send forth a wave of sound. Enemies are made to dance.
New Map and New Lancer
Following the S1 Chapter 2 update, FragPunk gamers will have a whole new battleground for TDM: Kepler Station "Aesir." This interesting addition is guaranteed to add dynamic gameplay and new strategies to the mix.
Kepler has constructed stations in many Shards. Eastvale-led other companies think the facilities are being misused. A Lancer squad is dispatched to look into one of Kepler's Stations in Aesir Shard. Kepler, though, has another Lancer team on standby for them.
Apart from the new map, the latest update will add a high-skill attacker to the lineup meant for those with an aggressive playstyle. This character adds an interesting dimension to battle by being different from the others in the roster.
Updates to Arcade
Along with the comeback of players' favorites, Chaos Clash and Blitz Ballet, Season 1 Chapter 2 offers two thrilling new arcade modes: Headshot Only and Classic Clash. After the next update, the Arcade modes will refresh daily.
- Headshot Only: In this headshot-centric frenzy, where solely headshots can beat opponents, chaos rules.
- Classic Clash: A tactical explosive mode that is stripped back and designed for purists, without the use of Shard Cards.
Battle Pass Refresh
Launching on April 29, Season 1 Chapter 2's new Battle Pass. Progress that is incomplete? Do not worry; it will not expire.
New Esports Tournament
The inaugural FragPunk Global Invitational will run from April 28 to June 7, 2025.
Seven teams from North America (NA), Germany (DE), France (FR), Brazil (BR), Russia (RU), the Chinese Mainland Region, and the Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan Regions (HMT) will be invited to face off against one another for the final grand prize during the event.
Tournament Schedule
- Open Qualifiers: April 28 – May 2, 2025 (Local server-based matches led by regional captains)
- Regional Finals: May 3 – May 11, 2025 (Final team selection per region)
- Grand Finals - World Clash Hangzhou: June 5 to June 7, 2025 (Live in Hangzhou, China)
Prize Pool and Trophy
Top teams will vie for a prize pool of USD 10,000 in every region during the Regional Finals. At the Grand Finals, a USD 150,000 prize pool will be divided among leading teams along with the unveiling of a custom-built World Clash Championship Trophy especially made for this first tournament.
Regional Captains
A designated "captain" will choose every region's representative team to guarantee only the most elite teams progress. The captain will lead the selection procedure for their own regions.
