On July 2, 2025, Honkai Star Rail's Version 3.4 will be released, HoYoverse announced. In this latest patch update, expect new 5-star characters, Fate/stay night collab, a lineup of limited-time events, feature optimizations, and new content.

The new character, Phainon, will stand at the crossroads of destiny in Version 3.4, poised to take a crucial step that could start the Era Nova. Players can also recruit Phainon for the first time. Further, This version has the expected Honkai Star Rail × Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] collaboration. Saber and Archer, the renowned Heroic Spirits, will join HSR's playable roster, bringing their style, tale, and fighting experience. Players who log in can claim Archer for free from July 11 until Version 3.6 ends. Character and Light Cone collab banners (warp event) will be available long after the event. Meanwhile, Blade, Kafka, Silver Wolf, and Jingliu will get enhanced battle mechanics and Eidolon effects. In addition, Firefly's new Spring Missive skin will debut.
Honkai Star Rail Version 3.4 Update Overview
From where the story left off, the Chrysos Heirs raced against time to aid Phainon and the Trailblazer in restoring the final Coreflame to the Vortex of Genesis. As the clouds around Amphoreus lift, one thing becomes clear: things were never easy. The start of the Era Nova may ripple across the galaxy. After all that, the player's choices could change the cosmos.
The Trailblazer's long-awaited Phainon will join them as a significant ally in the main story. The first Chrysos Heirs to welcome the Trailblazer to Amphoreus were from Aedes Elysiae. He has frequently protected others from rising danger. His calm, steady attitude hides high expectations. Players will trek deep within Aedes Elysiae with the Trailblazer in HSR Version 3.4, following Phainon's journey from warrior to Flame-Chase to his current self. Through numerous techniques, Phainon can gather "Coreflames" during combat. After collecting enough "Coreflames," he can activate his Ultimate to create a "Territory" and fight foes in a strong new form. His combat power rises. Allies leave the battlefield temporarily when transformed, but their bonus effects remain. Phainon channels Origination, Calamity, and the Foundation Titans after changing with Coreflames. When Phainon is on the team, the Technique Point cap rises. The Technique may instantaneously defeat normal opponents within a given range without combat. This will simplify map exploration and world travel.
Moreover, Penacony will tell its grand tale: players received a mystery letter from Old Oti, the Alfalfa Family head, inviting them to join the "Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War" program. In Penacony, seven invited participants will call historical figures as Servants to fight in the Holy Grail War. Along with the Trailblazer, Aventurine, Mr. Boothill, and Miss Robin will compete. At the same time, Saber, Archer, and Lancer will answer the Holy Grail's call. How will "Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War" be spectacular and unpredictable? Who will contract with whom? All these puzzles can be solved by the Trailblazer. This collaboration will include a playable Saber. The five-star Wind-type character follows the Path of Destruction. Her Ultimate, "Excalibur," gives huge Wind DMG to all foes and enhances her Basic ATK to target all enemies. Saber can gain "Core Resonance" from her Technique, Basic ATKs, and allies' Ultimates during combat. She gets an extra action instantly after accumulating enough. Using her Skill now consumes all "Core Resonance," boosts its damage, and instantly refills her Ultimate's Energy.
Further, players can use Archer to fight formidable adversaries during the Holy Grail War and following intergalactic adventures. Quantum-type Archer follows the Path of the Hunt and unleashes sustained single-target damage through repeated skill activation. Casting his Skill in the "Circuit Connection" state will not finish his turn. He can utilize it till all Skill Points are consumed. Damage rises with each cast. Archer chants "Unlimited Blade Works," unleashing a strong attack on one enemy and acquiring Special Charge when he uses his Ultimate. Archer can use this Charge to trigger a follow-up attack and restore 1 Skill Point whenever an ally attacks throughout the battle.
In addition, Version 3.4 brings back several beloved characters and adds much-anticipated upgrades and striking new appearances. The first half of the update will return 5-star characters Sunday, Tribbie, and Sparkle for a limited time. Jingliu, Firefly, and Blade reappear in the second half. Even more thrilling, Blade, Kafka, Silver Wolf, and Jingliu will have improvements in battle mechanics and the Eidolon effects. Players can also freely swap between classic and enhanced combat modes for customizable gaming. This update will also introduce Firefly's new outfit, Spring Missive, giving this adored Stellaron Hunter a new look.
Lastly, the much-anticipated "skip dialogue" function is finally in Version 3.4, letting players choose their storytelling pace. The classic minigame "Origami Bird" will return, adding some excitement to the update.
