Acecraft, a fully hand-drawn mobile co-op shoot 'em up game

MOONTON Games has just unveiled Acecraft, the world's first mobile two-player co-op shoot 'em up, fully hand-drawn and bursting with nostalgic flair. It is set to release globally, including in the Philippines, on iOS and Android on August 28, 2025.

Set in the sky-high world of Cloudia, it combines expressive animation, mechanical whimsy, and roguelike gameplay for an entirely new arcade experience on mobile.

Check out the details below to learn more about the artistic vision behind Acecraft and how to pre-register.

Hand-Drawn From the Ground Up

From boss attacks, idle bounces, to stage transitions, every Acecraft animation was fully drawn by hand. To create a lived-in feel, the team employed warm color palettes and hand-painted strokes rather than digital shortcuts. The gentle, expressive, but tense spirit of the game comes from this technique. The setting feels more like a novel than a mobile game.

Acecraft - Hand-Drawn From the Ground Up

This goes beyond nostalgia for Acecraft's developers. It's personal. After growing up on Looney Tunes, Steamboat Willie, and Betty Boop, they wanted to convey that delight. Acecraft is a mobile co-op vertical shooter that reimagines childhood wonder.

A New World Designed With Old-School Lines

The design team evolved the 1930s animation style rather than mimicking it. The team combined rubber hose animation warmth with clockwork structure to create "contrasting cuteness." Hand-drawn characters and planes with warm brushstrokes and exaggerated motion add charm and drama to every frame.

Acecraft's environment combines brushstrokes, elastic movement, and gears. Each pilot, plane, and boss was rendered alive, mechanical, and quite mischievous. The spirit of Acecraft.

Acecraft - Ark of Hope

Each of the game's eight Ace Pilots will combine cartoon whimsy with mechanical roughness. Ekko is the cast's funny heart. His rubber hose animation makes every action comical, making flying a punchline. Amelia, however, is charming and lively. Her candy-pink aircraft matches her animations and outfit. She makes every run fun and warm in the pandemonium.

A Shoot 'Em Up Game Built for Two

This return to "simple, joyful design" inspired Acecraft's main feature, pair gameplay. The first 2-player co-op vertical scroller on mobile, its levels, bosses, and bullet patterns reward teamwork, timing, and team strategy. With random roguelike skill combos and monster variants, no two runs are the same, whether solo or with a friend.
