2021 Globe G Legends Cup features amateur Mobile Legends tournament
As part of the telco’s National G Day celebration, Globe has introduced a special twist in its biggest amateur Mobile Legends tournament. In this year’s G Legends Cup, gamers from throughout the country will not only compete against over 1,000 other teams for the title but will also share PHP 240,000 in prize money with their chosen community beneficiaries.
The G Legends Cup is an amateur esports tournament open to all Globe mobile and broadband subscribers aged 16 years and above.
Besides the main event, customers can participate in a variety of side events. These include the following:
  • low-cost cosplay
  • AR filter of their favorite MLBB characters
  • Discord Takeovers where fans can connect directly with organizers
Fans who participate in these events will have the opportunity to win exciting prizes from Globe and its partners, including foodpanda and OPPO.
Octofinalist teams were asked to nominate one beneficiary, such as a non-profit organization, a public school, or a specific cause that benefits a community, a family, or an individual in need. Each recipient will get a seed fund of PHP 40,000, while the Tournament champion nominee will receive PHP 100,000.
The preliminary round winners will be announced immediately following the match on September 21, 2021, via Globe Channels (GGWP and Globe Facebook). The finalists will join the championship tournament through the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang app.
“What is exciting about this year is that teams who will win in the tournament would not only be playing for their own but for their chosen beneficiaries,” said Joey Kilayko, Head of Globe Rewards.
“Globe has always valued the social aspect of gaming. We see it as an avenue for players to build relationships, providing them a chance to bond and forge deeper ties with friends and family. We also see it as a way to help uplift other people’s lives, by providing moments of joy and comfort,” said Rina Siongco, Head of Get Entertained Tribe at Globe.
