GCash will upgrade its GCash Card service on September 7, 2021. This security update was supposed to launch on August 18, 2021. Check out below to know more details about this new GCash Card service.
Mobile wallet app GCash will be having a system upgrade from September 6, 2021 (12MN) to September 7, 2021 (12NN).
New GCash Card Features
Better Card Management
You can now fully manage your GCash Card through the GCash app. The app’s self-service card management features make it easy to navigate through your account. Users can now enable or disable their card with the new Lock and Unlock feature.
Virtual Account Number
There’s no need to share your sensitive information for non-financial transactions. This protects your account against identity theft and fraud.
6-Digit Card PIN
The 6-digit Card PIN adds another layer of security, protecting consumers from hackers. Additionally, it is compliant with the international card system standards.
When to Update GCash Card PIN?
You can update your GCash Card PIN after the system maintenance on September 7, 12NN. To continue using the card for PIN-based transactions, you must set a new 6-digit PIN.
Note: If your GCash Mastercard does not have a Virtual Account Number (VAN) printed on the back, ensure that you link your card to your GCash account via the GCash app before September 6, 2021. Your Virtual Account Number (VAN) will be automatically displayed on the GCash App upon system uptime.

How to Update GCash Card PIN?
Follow the instructions below to nominate a 6-digit card PIN for your GCash Mastercard:
1. Log in to your GCash app and go to your Profile.
2. Tap on My Linked Accounts > GCash Mastercard.
3. Tap the GCash Mastercard account with the ‘Update PIN’ label.
4. Enter your new 6-digit PIN. Input the same PIN on the next line to confirm.
5. After that, a confirmation prompt will appear, telling that the PIN setup is successful.
Note: Your GCash account’s 4-digit MPIN will remain unchanged after the GCash Mastercard system upgrade.
Difference of GCash 4-digit MPIN from 6-digit Card PIN
Your GCash’s 4-digit MPIN is different from your 6-digit Card PIN. Your MPIN servers as the password for your GCash transactions, while the 6-digit Card PIN is used for ATM withdrawals and payments made at Point-of-Sale (POS) Terminals.
GCash Card System Upgrade Schedule
Below is the schedule for the upcoming GCash update.
- September 5, 2021 – Deadline for linking old GCash Mastercard cards.
- September 6-7, 2021 – Master system downtime. Plan your transactions ahead to avoid failed GCash Mastercard transactions.
- September 7, 2021 – Mastercard Update. Nominate a 6-digit card PIN to continue using your card.
