Game developer Garena has announced that the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2022 will take place in May 2022, with the Play-Ins Stage taking place on May 14 and the Finals on May 21.
Qualifiers for FFWS 2022 will be hosted across multiple regions in the coming months, with the top squads earning the right to compete for the grand prize.
The FFWS 2022 will be the third edition of the title’s most awaited international tournament, which will bring together the top teams worldwide to battle for the title of best.
The Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore (FFWS 2021 SG) attracted a record number of viewers across multiple platforms in 2021. According to Esports Charts, the Finals of the FFWS 2021 SG drew 5.4 million concurrent online viewers, the largest peak viewership of any esports match in history, excluding Chinese platforms.
Thailand’s Team Phoenix Force was declared FFWS 2021 SG champions, taking home a share of the USD 2,000,000 prize pool. Meanwhile, Team Corinthians of Brazil won the Free Fire World Series 2019.
The Free Fire Asia Championship 2021 will feature 31 teams representing seven Asian regions. Philippines squad Supreme Assault Force earned a spot for the Play-Ins stage as it placed fourth in the recent MCP Majors S2 finals.
Meanwhile, the EMEA Invitational 2021 will feature 12 teams representing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
