Video streaming platform Netflix has released its report for May 2022 ISP Speed Index for the Philippines, ranking specific internet service providers (ISPs) in the country based on their performance.
According to the latest data, Converge ICT Solutions, Globe Telecom, PLDT, and Sky Cable shared the top spot, registering speeds of 3.4 Mbps. Compared to April 2022 rankings, there are no changes in positions.
Royal Cable ranked second place with an average speed of 3.2 Mbps.
Based on the report, PLDT and Globe have fiber and DSL (digital subscriber line) networks. Meanwhile, Royal Cable, Sky Cable, and Converge offer two types of internet: fiber and cable.
Netflix’s ISP Speed Index reveals which internet service providers offer the best watching experience during peak viewing hours. The leaderboard is based on data collected from subscribers using the video streaming service.
The speed index is essential for Netflix streaming since its video content loads smoothly on networks with low latency, packet loss, and jitter. Otherwise, users may encounter difficulties such as pixelization and buffering while watching videos.
The score of Converge, Globe, PLDT, and Sky was comparable to other countries that experience excellent Netflix speeds.
Among the countries that reached the same 3.4 Mbps speeds are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Portugal, Romania, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam.
