Blacklist International will get a chance to defend their title in the M4 World Championship after a clean sweep of Echo, 3-0, in the upper bracket finals of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 10 playoffs on Saturday.
The Tier One-led squad also secured their spot in the grand finals of MPL PH S10. To recall, they missed qualifying for the playoffs last MPL PH S9.
In the first two games, Echo lasted 26 and 20 minutes, respectively, but eventually collapsed in Game 3, which Blacklist won in just 14 minutes to complete the sweep.
Blacklist first won the M3 World Championship in December 2021 in Singapore, when it defeated fellow Filipinos Onic Philippines in a 4-0 sweep.
The M4 World Championship will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from January 1 to 15, 2023. The tournament will feature a USD 800,000 (around PHP 47 million) prize pool
Blacklist International is the first MPL Philippines team to qualify for M4 World and the second Filipino-headed team after Cambodia's Burn x Flash, coached by John Michael "Zico" Dizon, claimed their slots on October 1.
Meanwhile, Echo still has a chance to qualify for the M4 World Championship as it faces the winner between RSG Philippines and Bren Esports in the lower bracket final.
The winner of the lower bracket final will move to the grand final to compete Blacklist for the title and the grand prize of USD 35,000 (around PHP 2 million).
