Globe Telecom added 894 5G sites in the Philippines and abroad, recording over 5.8 million devices connected to its 5G network in December 2023.
According to Globe, the 894 new 5G sites were installed last year. The telco added that its network expansion is "a major step towards enhancing digital connectivity and empowering Filipinos worldwide."
Globe attained 97.90 percent outdoor coverage in the National Capital Region (NCR) and 92.36 percent in key Visayas and Mindanao cities in 2023. Further, the company logged over 5.8 million Globe 5G-connected devices in December 2023.
As per Globe, it "strategically moderated its spending on new 5G sites" because of the current state of the market and the ongoing search for practical uses that fully utilize 5G technology. The company noted that it is committed to not only advancing technology but also ensuring its sustainable and strategic deployment.

On the other hand, Globe now has 156 worldwide 5G roaming partners in 82 destinations. With the addition of Nigeria through a partnership with MTN, Mauritius through Cellplus, and a planned partnership with Kenya through Africell, Globe now has the biggest presence in Africa.
Globe's presence in Asia has been expanded to include Laos and Kazakhstan through joint ventures with LaoTel and Tele2, respectively.
Moreover, Globe has formed 5G roaming partnerships with Emnify and E-Plus Mobilfunk in Germany, China Unicom in Hong Kong, LG Uplus in Korea, Cellcom and YTL in Malaysia, Mobile Norway in Norway, Tele2 and COM4 in Sweden, and DTAC in Thailand.
In addition, Globe's collaborations with Manx Telecom in the Isle of Man, Dialog in Sri Lanka, and Orange in Egypt allow international visitors to the Philippines to enjoy 5G speeds.
