Echo Philippines will have their first M4 World Championships appearance after defeating MPL Season 9 champions RSG Philippines, 3-1, in the lower bracket finals of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 10 playoffs on October 22, 2022.
Besides a spot for M4, Echo advances to MPL PH S10 grand finals, facing the M3 World champs Blacklist International, on October 23 at 4 PM through a best-of-seven series. It was also the Blacklist squad that relegated them to the lower bracket of the playoffs.
Echo will be competing Blacklist for the MPL PH Season 10 title and the grand prize of USD 35,000 (around PHP 2 million).
Tristan "Yawi" Cabrera-led Echo won the first two games in 17 and 19 minutes, respectively. However, RSG PH prevented Echo PH from completing a sweep in the third game, but Echo defeated the defending Southeast Asia Cup champions in the fourth game to secure a slot in the world championship and MPL Season 10 grand finals.
The captain of the Echo earned three MVP awards for his outstanding performances with Chou in Games 1 and 2 and Kadita in Game 4 of the best-of-five series.
Echo's Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno will be participating in the world championship series for the second time, having won his first title for Bren Esports at the M2 World Championships in Singapore in January 2021.
Using a combination of veterans and rookies led by Yawi and KarlTzy, Echo finished the regular season in second place, behind Blacklist.
From January 1 to 15, 2023, the M4 World Championship will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia. The tournament will have a prize pool of USD 800,000 (roughly PHP 47 million).
